McIntosh Training Academy Programs
During an apprenticeship there are two critical sources of training and learning for an apprentice;
- Certified accredited training that forms the structured course work; and
- On the job training that an apprentice receives in the workplace.
In an ideal world, all apprentices get real-life exposure in the workplace to a wide range of appropriate skills and experiences to apply their course learnings. Unfortunately, busy technicians, a bustling workshop and dealership priorities tend to get in the way.
We believe this exposure is paramount to the success of a McIntosh Training Academy graduate, and in an industry-first, have developed the McIntosh Milestone program and the Master Apprentice program.
The Milestone Program
Our first-year apprentices are supported through our structured Milestone Program designed to set strong foundations from day one. These milestones are designed to help our apprentices build technical knowledge, develop confidence in the workshop, and settle into the workplace environment.
Through a combination of hands-on experience, guided mentoring, scheduled milestone training sessions and access to a wide range of learning resources, they begin developing the technical and professional skills required for a successful career in the industry. This program encourages apprentices to become self-driven, resourceful and proactive in their daily tasks, ensuring they not only understand the “how,” but also the “why” behind the work they do.
By the end of their first year, they will have built a strong foundation and a clear understanding of the technical career pathway ahead.
The Master Apprentice Program
The Master Apprentice Program is a structured, measurable pathway designed to give eligible students real-world experience throughout their 3rd and 4th years, and extends into a 5th, post-apprenticship year of study. Students receive exposure to brands, dealership departments, and machinery at every stage of their learning. Through this program we give apprentices real world applications using the equipment, and skills they will need to be an effective technician.
Using product specialists, in-house department managers and manufacturer training facilities, we can make sure our students graduate confident that they have had comprehensive exposure to all aspects of their future career.
