What is the difference between completing a qualification with McIntosh Training Academy vs other training institutions?

McIntosh Training Academy is part of the large dealer network of McIntosh & Son. The training you receive is industry based and exposes you to a real work environment with the most up to date technical information and support.
You have unique access to the McIntosh Milestone program, which helps prepare you for the workplace, in the workplace.

When you receive your qualification, you know you have received 60+ years of industry experience & training throughout your apprenticeship.

What are the benefits of doing an apprenticeship with McIntosh Training Academy?

McIntosh Training Academy has eleven locations across WA, access to facilities, expertise and resources that other RTO’s outside of industry cannot access. You are an employee of the McIntosh Group network, and therefore, it is in our interest to support you along the way to help you succeed and provide you with every opportunity to become a highly skilled tradesperson.

When do apprenticeship applications open and are there any age limits?

Expressions of interest start on July 1st each year. Our courses and programs are open to people interested in a career in agriculture.

Important dates to note:

  1. Expressions of interest: July 1st to August 31st.
  2. Interviews and letters of offer:  September to November 30th.
  3. Apprentices start work: 2nd to 3rd week of January.

How long does the application-to-offer process take?

Applications are reviewed by our recruitment team, and if successful you will be invited to an interview.

Interview-to-offer is usually no more than a couple of wee, at the very latest, 2 weeks after applications close.

Do I need any prior qualifications to be considered?

We prefer our applicants to have completed Year 12 school level, due to the technical nature of the qualifications we offer however, we will consider anyone with workplace experience, industry training or who is interested in career in agriculture.

Where and how is the training delivered?

Training is either 1-week or 2-week training blocks delivered onsite at our two training facilities in Katanning or Wongan Hills.

Theory training is delivered by fully qualified Lecturer in a classroom environment and always followed up by practical assessments and skills training in the workshop.

Are there any materials I need to provide, and will there be any additional costs?

All Academy apprentices must purchase a laptop and starter tool kit (available from McIntosh & Son) as part of their apprenticeship.

The laptop is used as the electronic-based curriculum and training, as a diagnostic tool, and technical information source in their workplace.

Everything else required for training will be provided by McIntosh Training Academy.

Is there any financial assistance available?

Yes, you can learn more about financial support structures here or by speaking to your apprenticeship support person.

What support is available to apprentices during their training?

Apprentices will have the full support of the entire McIntosh Training Academy team, the McIntosh & Son dealer network, McIntosh Group People & Development department, product support experts, mentors, and a large portfolio of training resources and technical information.
